The last time Wesley Snipes appeared on screen as the half-vampire vampire hunter Blade was in the third installment of the film franchise, 2004’s Blade: Trinity. But the character will likely return, and Snipes is all about it. The actor recently took to Twitter to tease the possibility of another movie, saying it’s a “possibility.”
Snipes tweeted on Tuesday:
Balls in Marvels court…

When it comes to another BLADE, there's always a possibility. 😁#SharpeningMyTeeth

At the time of the rights acquisition, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told EW that the character has “potential” to enter the MCU fold, “but I think we need to find the right time.” Now might be the right time. While Marvel seems adamant about refraining from R-rated movies, the Netflix series are undeniably darker. Both seasons of Daredevil featured heavy action that resulted in lots of blood and bruises, while Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg used her series as a medium to address rape and PTSD. Then there’s Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, a pretty dark guy already, who’s getting his own spin-off series. Blade could easily fit inside this universe, instead of alongside Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC.
A Blade return seems all but official, but Snipes’ return as the character is another matter, especially if the character enters the TV/streaming space.
